You can still wear a bikini even if you’re more Kate Nash than Kate Moss.

First establish your body shape from those below  – pear, apple, hour-glass, top-heavy or voluptuous – and decided what you’d like to hide, and what to display with pride.

You’ll need some poolside  savvy, such as what cuts, colours and shapes to choose.

Now follow our guide to have a hell of a holiday.

FLAT OR SMALL CHESTED:

Boost small busts with padded bras and tops with frilly details or horizontal stripes. Underwired bras with bows or flowers will add an extra dimension to an otherwise uneventful bustline.

PEAR-SHAPED OR BIG BOTTOMED:

Tie-sided briefs are flattering on bigger hips and are easy to adjust to fit perfectly. The ties detract from any lumps or bumps. Or choose bikinis with boyish shorts or flippy skirts.

BUSTY:

Draw attention from your boobs to your face and lengthen your torso with V-neck swimsuits or bikinis. They draw the eye downwards. Choose thick shoulder straps to minimise a big bust.

BIG TUMMY:

Vest tops with built-in support are great for covering a bulging tummy. Or go for high-cut bikini bottoms that come higher over your tummy.

BIG BUM, SMALL BOOBS?:

Hide a big bum and tiny boobs with a solid dark colour on the bottom and colour and pattern on the top.

LIFE’S A BEACH

When you’re by the seaside…

  • Take huge deep breaths of the sea air to calm mind and spirit, and help you sleep
  • Don’t lounge – swim…it’s the best all-over body exercises and doesn’t strain the joints
  • Wade through hip-high water to tone the lower body and firm bum and thighs. Barefoot running on the sand can exfoliate the feet and tone calf muscles.
  • Beach volleyball burns 300 calories in 30 minutes and targets bums, thighs, pecs and bingo wings
