ANT AND DEC RESPOND TO AWARD FIX SCANDAL

Ant and Dec have said they are ‘appalled’ after hearing they won an award which had been fixed by ITV bosses.

It emerged yesterday that the Geordie duo were wrongly given a British Comedy Award at the 2005 ceremony.

Viewer’s votes show the award should have gone to Catherine Tate.

‘They are so upset and completely appalled.  They have been lucky to win many awards and would never want to win an award in this way,’ said a spokesman for the pair.

The Saturday Night Takeaway stars angrily gave back their People’s Choice award last night.

An investigation into the fix has revealed that ITV chiefs fixed the voting so popstar Robbie Williams could present the award to his pals.

The report added that there was no suggestion Robbie, Ant and Dec were aware of ‘any of these issues’
